Man Of Steel

Despite the worsening of the haze which reached PSI 401 today at extremely hazardous level, I guess you guys still deserve a little bit of entertainment. I guess watching movie in a cinema will be relatively safer.

Movie of the week - Man of Steel!

Well as most people already know, it's actually Superman movie. It's like Batman, they called him the dark knight, and now Superman is man of steel. I think it's actually quite cool. And everything he does make sense in the movie. I think Nolan did a good job again after batman series. He is always able to turn a story into his own and make it interesting to watch.

It's actually quite fun to interpret some of the superman's move. He was not flying, he just experience a relatively weak gravity force compared to his own planet therefore the force used to jump is relatively greater. I believe he jumps normally in his own planet haha. Everyone is superman in his hometown lol. His suit is actually cooler in this movie.

Find the movie v touching especially at the front part where his parents have to send him to earth. And in the end part, i actually find the bad guy kinda sad. He is not exactly evil, he's just raised to protect his people and it was his responsibility to find a new place for his people. That was his designated destiny. Like many of us, we are controlled by a lot of things most of the time and are raised to be certain type of people. It's not like some people are bad, it's just the way we are raised is different. We are all good in the beginning of life. I believe this movie sends this message very clearly, which is a success.

Well in conclusion, i find it to be a great superhero movie. It makes people think. Kinda like The Dark Knight with Joker as the bad guy. Less of a commercial movie compared to Avengers or Ironman.

SS: The Eventful Long Weekend

Hello people! Today is the start of my Special Series posts, I'm so excited about it =)

As i said last week, i went to Malacca with my parents for a wedding lunch and therefore we depart in the morning on Friday.

Puffy eyes as a result of waking up early in the morning.

Didn't manage to update anything on Friday as i spent most of my time on the car thanks to the crazy heavy traffic in Malacca. But still, there were some happy moments, such as getting new clothes at 50-70% off sales and meeting up with some old good friends.

Meeting friends with new top bought in the afternoon hahaha! I was talking so much with my two lovely friends that i nearly went voiceless at the end of the gathering. I guess i talk too much too furious haha.

And the most eventful day will be Sunday. Went to watch Fast & Furious 6 with my bf and ended up getting minor food poisoning therefore went home straight after the movie. I am suspecting the culprit to be the KFC chicken. Damn. Should never eat anything in the cinema again! Too dark too dangerous. The movie was quite good, especially all the action parts and the car racing parts. Excited to see the London landmarks that i went before. Well, it will be a long series like SAW so i'm guessing the movie is good as long as the car and action parts are good. Oh and their opening theme song was good! Love that song. It reminds me of Katy Perry's Alien.

So, today will be my first day cooking for my dad and i have some leftovers of vege this afternoon. Gonna make a fried udon using the leftovers as well as the experimenting sauces. Hope it will be nice! Will let you all know tomorrow =)

"Penny, I'm Really Glad I Know You."

It's Friday Friday gonna get down on Friday~

Found a link to watch <Seeking a Friend for The End of The World> few days ago and finally watched it yesterday! It was a movie that i wanted to watch last year when i saw it's poster, but didnt get the time to do so therefore slowly it slipped off my mind. I was excited when i saw the link and thought i should watch it and see if it's good to be recommended.

Anyway, it was a story about two neighbours who never know each other until the end of the world is around the corner. I find it to be a very touching movie. It's romantic. And it shows that everyone is so lonely that when their time is coming to an end, they freak out and are terrified to be alone. As everybody's clock is ticking, any unusual things and crazy actions are rationalized by themselves.

It's not the kind of blockbuster movie. It doesn't have great explosions or heroic actions. It purely says a story about an average man and a gipsy type of girl. A beautiful story. A comedy, romance, drama and family movie.

SPOILERS ALERT. (Used a dark font everytime for a spoiler is to prevent people from accidentally reading it when they don't want to. Thoughtful? )

Love the first appearance of the dog, Sorry. I mean, the dog's name is Sorry haha. Isn't that briliant? People has problem to apologize and admit their mistakes all the time, and this dog, if you want to call him you have to say SORRY. I find it sarcastic yet heart-warming.

Also love the moment when they fall in love with each other. The music is good. Kinda romantic, kinda brightening their life a little bit. The meeting of father and son was touching as well. The music makes everything better.

Can't believe Dodge send Penny to her family and went back to prepare dying by his own. I almost cried. "All I need is the air that to breathe and to love you..." sings the background music.

Love all the music in the movie. Vinyl records are vintage and cool. The lyrics of the songs said it all.

Love the last 5 minutes of the movie. The dialogues are amazing.

"I wish I'd met you a long time ago. When we were kids."
"It couldn't have happened any other way. It had to happen now."

"But it isn't enough time."
"It never would have been."

"I though we'd somehow saved each other."
"We did."

One Pill Can Change Your Life

Side Effects. This is a movie which i wanted to introduce since last week as i really like it. It is relevant to my field of knowledge and i'm always a big fans for psychological thriller. Plus, they have really good actors and actresses including Jude Law (with his sexy british slang), Channing Tatum, Rooney Mara and Catherine Zeta Jones (haven't seen her on screen for a while).

I wasn't familiar with the lead actress when i watched it, then i did some digging on her after the movie. She was in the movie The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Personally think she handled the character in Side Effects really well. Can't really compared with her other work as i've not seen any of them haha. The way she expressing the symptoms and reactions of a depressive patient is very truthful. Jude Law and Catherine did their parts as psychiatry doctors as well. However, i think Catherine is overachieving the sexiness of her character, it just not really making sense for a doctor to look that seductive. She could put in more layers of acting in her character (not sure if this is the right way of saying it as i direct translated my comments from chinese haha).

The story is mainly revolving around Rooney's character, who is a woman struggling with major depression and has problem coping with it which results in a tragedy. The first climax was quite shocking and surprising. They did a great in telling and leading the audience into the story. And yes, i would say this story is totally acceptable if it happens in real life. Love the ending too, glad that everyone gets what they deserved.

Drugs that treat psychological disorders are still under the grey area of medicines. As it is quite subjective to determine whether the person is well-treated or getting worse. The symptoms are not very conclusive with a lot of variations. The drugs themselves, although have the chance to treat the patients, also have different side effects which can cause other problems. The most troublesome part is that the side effects, can be anything. The drugs are meant to deal with the brain, so it is perfectly normal that it can lead to different results. That is what make this movie interesting =) They actually convinced me to go and look up on the medicine after movie lol. Don't worry, of course the drug is fictional haha.

Decided not to do spoilers this time so please, go to the cinema and watch this movie! It's a 4/5 stars for me.

Silver Linings Playbook, the outsiders-won't-understand-LOVE

It's Friday people! Weekend is just around the corner and care for some movies?

I was actually struggling whether to introduce Silver Linings Playbook or Side Effects, and i decide to do Silver Lining Playbook :) Side Effects is a psychological thriller and might be too heavy for people to cope with it after a week of crazy work lol. So, something lighter, i.e. a romantic comedy-drama might be a better option to have a relaxing weekend (or actually it isn't, it just happen to has a happy ending lol ).

This is a great movie with great actors and actress. Imagine it has EIGHT Oscars nomination including ALL four acting categories. That is how GOOD this movie is.

I know, people might say Oscars nominated movies are normally boring and boring and BORING. But trust me, this one is fun and it makes you think about lots of things after watching it. [Spoiler alert] The dancing part at the end actually reminds me of another movie Miss Little Sunshine, which also has a surprisingly entertaining dancing part.

Basically this movie is talking about a man whose wife has an affair with a colleague of both of them. And when he accidentally saw them together, he beat the hell out of that man and ended up being sent into a psychiatry hospital. When he came home, he was still obsessed in getting back together with his wife and has tried his best to achieve his goal. One day, he met his friend's wife's sister (i know, complicated relationship), who has problem coping with her ex-husband's death. They somehow were attracted to each other and the girl tricked him into entering a dance competition with her.

The pace of the show is generally very natural, which some people might find it slow. But i think that pace is just nice for a movie like this. Like the parts when people trying to cope with their own psychological problem. That moment of silence was very convincing and I literally is amazed by their acting performance. Love the chemistry between all of them. They are awesome!

[Spoiler alert] Love the part when Pat and Tiffany were discussing what anti-depressants they have taken on the dining table. It was creepy but amusing haha. Also, love the performance of Dr Patel as well, he is like such a serious person at work and when it comes to american football, he went wild lol. Love his indian accent too, it's like Raj from Big Bang Theory haha.

This movie shows how very messed up people can be happy just because of very small things that means the world to them. Everyone has their own problems, you just have to face it and deal with it. I love the attitude of Tiffany, she's like "Ya i'm very fucked up, but i still love myself. So accept it or leave me."

I wasn't that impressed by Jennifer Lawrence when she was in Hunger Game, but she really did a very great job in Silver Linings Playbook. Can't believe she is same age as me! The acting performance was very polished and well played. No, i don't love her, i just like her performance in this movie lol.

Bradley Cooper did a great job too. He earns what he has. Having so many supporting roles played in different movie, finally this one got him a very fruitful experience. Although he didn't win the Oscars, I'm very sure people in the industry has notice him and will make him a great star sooner or later. And btw, he was in Hangover movies haha. The psycho in that series is different from the one in here. lol.
